Red Hot Chili Peppers live broadcast from Cologne, Germany
As soon as it was announced the Peppers would be broadcasting a live concert from Cologne, Germany to theaters around the world I checked to see if tickets were available in Phoenix. Knowing I live in the 5th largest city in the U.S., I had little doubt, just wondered about location. Fortunately, there was a theater just 10 minutes away where it would be playing. Everything I’ve learned about women, I learned from When Harry Met Sally
This week I watched When Harry Met Sally. I haven’t seen the film in about 20 years, and since I have plenty of time right now while I’m recovering from shoulder surgery, movies get to occupy more time. Seeing this appear on Netflix’s New Release menu, it was like the stars aligning.
And boy what a great decision that was! The biggest reason being, it should be no surprise that my perspective has matured, or at least changed, in 20 years. I appreciate this movie so much more now that I have an additional 20 years under my belt. The movie is richer and altogether ever more enjoyable. Defendor
Would you like to see an incredible and surprisingly unique movie that will catch you completely off guard? Of course you would!
Go to RedBox, Netflix; almost anyplace except Blockbuster and rent Defendor. Right now. This afternoon. Tonight. For fear of spoiling it, I hesitate to say more than Woody Harrelson delivers another great character performing as Arthur Poppington, also known as our hero Defendor.
My wife usually doesn’t enjoy my movie preferences, but eager to see another Woody Harrelson movie, she joined me without hesitation. Expecting 90 minutes of a silly movie with Woody giving some great laughs in the form of an outrageous character was all we expected. What we got was a 90 minute ride where Defendor and his few friends immerse us in a world of crime, broken families, love, and the belief that one person can defeat insurmountable odds with tenacity and belief in what is right and good.
Defendor will surprise and delight you, delivering a shock and awe attack on your emotions. There’s a lot of really good stuff here.
God Hates Us All
A work of fiction by a fictional character from a fictional TV show. I’ve never seen this before. Quite strange.
Update 8/15/10: Thanks to http://themix.wordpress.com/ for the correction. I got a good laugh from that.
